Precision Wide Web Slitter
This slitter is designed specifically for mill and warehouse duty. This unit features a heavy housing structure and substantial arbor bearing construction. As a result, the Model 177 is capable of producing slit width tolerances much closer than other machines of similar size.
The substantial inboard housing is permanently attached and dowelled to the sub-base. The swing-away outboard housing rides on an air cushion for changing the cutter set up. When loading and unloading cutters and spacers the operator simply removes the arbor nuts, loosens the two housing bolts and pulls the outboard housing away from the arbors and table key.
The 177 is also available with a slitter head injection system which allows an operator the ability to change out slitter heads in 5-6 minutes. In this configuration each slitter head is mounted to a separate weldment and rides on antifriction round ways. The operator simply unlatches the head and activates the rotary table to present the new head.
Cutter arbors are chrome plated, heat treated, alloy steel which run in roller bearings with anti-friction thrust bearings to prevent lateral arbor movement. Thus close tolerances are maintained. The top arbor is easily adjusted vertically by use of a single outboard hand wheel.
Steel stripping rings are arranged in quickly adjustable, double pressure bar assemblies and are easily positioned through the use of hand wheels.
